The aim of this element was to improve the skills of young people in order to prepare them for the world of work.
Support was provided for young people to get to know their skills and strengths including advice on interviews, identifying working world skills, discovering work opportunities and CV support and applying for jobs. They were encouraged to take up local opportunities including work experience, volunteering, apprenticeships and jobs.
This was implemented by visiting schools and further education colleges and introducing the different aspects in the form of face–to-face talks and workshops. This enabled us to tailor the support on a 1–to–1 basis with children and young people.
A series of videos have been developed to promote the scheme and highlight the exciting opportunities available locally.
