Academi Gwaith a Iaith – M-SParc

This project responds to the old story ‘there are no opportunities in North Wales’ by assisting local people to access high quality work, employers to access staff who are ready for the world of work, and above all, to help all this happen through the medium of Welsh. Since the pandemic, not everyone works in an office. Many still work from home, and although this can be convenient, it can lead to loneliness and for learners, it means less opportunity to use the Welsh language day-to-day.

From the perspective of companies, many report that staff recruitment is still more difficult, and the skills gap manifests itself more and more as young people move away, where they believe there are better opportunities. This scheme therefore enables people to get work, to learn or improve their Welsh, for businesses to get financial support while employing, and to create spaces where all this comes together.
