Non’s Blog: ‘My Experience as a Public Relations, Communications and Welsh Language Intern at Ateb’

Non lives in Penrhosgarnedd, and has recently completed her MA in International Public Relations and Communications at Cardiff University. The Elfen Gyrfaol has allowed her to work as an intern at Ateb over the summer.
My internship at Ateb has been a fantastic opportunity and an experience I will remember for a long time. Before starting, I was completing my MA in International Public Relations and Communications at Cardiff University. While my degree gave me a strong foundation, I was keen to gain practical experience in public relations, communications and the Welsh language. This internship allowed me to do exactly that in a professional, Welsh-speaking environment.
Throughout my time at Ateb, I have been involved in a wide range of tasks and projects, including writing press releases, creating content and supporting event planning. It has been valuable to see behind the scenes of a PR and communications agency and gain practical experience working with both local and national clients.
One of the things I have valued most is the opportunity to work through the medium of Welsh within my local area. The internship has strengthened my confidence in using Welsh in a professional environment, particularly within an industry where English often dominates. I have also developed new skills and gained a much clearer understanding of the areas of communications I would like to pursue in the future.
The experience has also helped me grow personally. I have learned more about my strengths, identified areas for development and built my confidence. I am particularly grateful to Llinos, Rhys, Erin, Marged and Callum for their support, guidance and expertise throughout my internship.
This opportunity would not have been possible without the Llwyddo’n Lleol Careers Initiative and Menter Môn. Their support has enabled me to gain valuable experience, develop new skills and build connections that will benefit me in the future.
I am incredibly grateful to Ateb, Llwyddo’n Lleol and Menter Môn for this opportunity. Experiences like this highlight the value of being given the chance to step into the workplace, try new things and learn along the way. I look forward to taking everything I have learned at Ateb with me as I continue to develop my career.
